Loop Lab Busan, the Asian expansion of the renowned Loop Barcelona, debuts from April 24–26, 2025, at the Grand Josun Hotel in Busan, bringing together leading galleries, curators, collectors, and institutions to explore contemporary moving images. Galerie BAO proudly presents Trương Công Tùng’s The Disoriented Garden… A Breath of Dream, a multimedia installation that transforms the idea of a garden into a living, regenerative library, where histories, myths, and spectral memories intertwine.
Winner of the 2023 Southeast Asian Video Art Production Grant by the Han Nefkens Foundation, the work creates a fictional yet deeply rooted portrait of Vietnam’s Central Highlands, where the landscape bears silent witness to colonial rule, forced assimilation, and ecological destruction. Eschewing traditional storytelling, Trương Công Tùng constructs a meditative, dreamlike journey where forests, rivers, and soil hold the echoes of past and present conflicts. Nature emerges as both protagonist and archive, blurring the boundaries between the real and the surreal, artifact and living entity.
Set within the intimate space of a hotel room, The Disoriented Garden… A Breath of Dream transforms its surroundings into a fragile, liminal world—at once lush and ghostly, familiar yet disorienting. The installation immerses viewers in an experience where time is fluid, memory is layered, and the land itself breathes with stories long buried. In this shifting terrain, beauty coexists with loss, and silence resonates with the weight of history. Trương Công Tùng invites us to enter, to listen, to remember.
